A Most Amazing Trip To Tahiti!

So, a few days before Christmas break, I find out that we’re taking a trip to Tahiti! We’ve never taken a trip like that before. I’ve traveled all over the world, but usually it’s work related. This trip was special. Both sets of parents - Dad & Belinda AND Mom & Wayne – were coming, and my brothers and sisters and their spouses were all coming as well. It was an amazing trip!

I had to laugh when I arrived in my room because I had my own bungalow all to myself, me being the only one on the trip without a spouse. And when I got there, they had fresh flowers laid all over the bed, as well as a coupon for a couples massage. That event sparked some interesting suggestions from some of my dear friends who heard about the situation (thanks to all those who contributed and made me laugh!) J

During the trip we did just about everything imaginable that you should do on an tropical island in the south pacific. We went snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with sharks and sting rays. We ate some of the best Sushi of my life, and the bungalows we stayed in were incredible! They sat on top of the water – with sections of glass floor to see right into the ocean. I even took a small sailboat out on the ocean for a few hours, it was a wonderful time to spend some time alone, remember my heavenly father, and the many blessings he has sent my way. The weather was perfect for us the entire trip! I’ve never done anything in my life to deserve a trip like that, and I can’t believe we were able to go.

On several of the nights we gathered all together, watched old videos of when we kids were young – some of these videos I never even knew existed – and reminisced about our family growing up. It was wonderful to have everyone together.

While we were there, we stayed at the St. Regis hotel on Bora Bora island. Supposedly this is the same resort that a movie called “Couples Retreat” was filmed at. I’ve never seen the film because I heard it was a little crude, but it was a common topic of discussion among my sisters on a daily basis. I think I pretty well have the gist of it now. (Thanks Laurie Kae. J)

I started to miss my boys by the second day. I’m not used to being that far away from them, and this is the longest they’ve been without each other since I became a single Dad. Boy was it wonderful to see them at the airport and have them run into my arms nearly knocking me over.

The trip was amazing! Absolutely amazing! The only thing that would have made this trip all the better would be to have my own special sweetheart who loves me, and for us to experience that together. I look forward to that day with great anticipation! J There are so many great adventures to be had in this life, but if you don’t have someone special to share them with, it’s nowhere near as fulfilling.
