My Awesome Little Guy!

Both Connor and Rocky love to cuddle. They ask me every night if they can sleep with me. Trying to be a responsible parrent, I tell them they need to sleep in their own bed almost always... In the past it would be a regular occurance for them at about 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning to come wandering in one after another and almost always within 5 minutes of eachother and ask to crawl into bed with me. At this point I'll usually say yes and I'll end up squished between my two little buddies... Now the early morning entry only takes place about once or twice a week.

I've become even more restricting on the boys going to bed with me because I just end up not getting any sleep. They've grown a ton in the past 12 months, and they seem to migrate in to me to the point I have a knee in my ribs and end up getting a smack in the face from an arm flop at least 2 or 3 times a night. I still love it, but a single dad needs his sleep too.

We went to bed last night with the normal routine. After prayers, the boys asked me to sing them to sleep with the guitar, which I was happy to do. "Blowin in the wind" was requested at least 3 times, along with "Puff the Magic Dragon", and "Close the door, light the light". After about 15 minutes the boys were fast asleep, and I retired to my bed, finished up for the day, and went to sleep.

When I woke up this morning, I found little Connor sleeping on my leather couch. I keep the bedroom pretty cool, and he was seeping there with no pillow and no blanket. The only thing he had coverning him was my black leather jacket he'd pulled up over him, but that didn't even cover him completely.

I woke him up gentely and asked him "Connor, why are you sleeping here on the couch?" He said, "Dad, I came in here just because I wanted to be close to you."

"Well, why did you sleep here on the couch instead of getting in the bed?"

"Because you haven't been sleeping much, and I didn't want to keep you up, Dad. I love you."

"Oh, Connor, that's ok.... Well, you should have told me, I would have gotten you a pillow and a blanket, then you wouldn't have to be cold."

patting me on the arm: "But Dad, then that would have woke you up. And you need to get your sleep."

I'll tell you, being a Dad is one of the most wonderul, humbling, precous, fulfilling things in the world. I thank Heavenly Father every day for entrusting me with these two little angels. Forever.
