Getting Ready For Easter!!!

Connor cooling the eggs. For perfect eggs - bring eggs to a boil then cover and let sit for 12-15 minutes. then run cold water over them immediatly until cool. (otherwise the eggs continue to cook from their own heat... Hey, you have to know these things as a single Dad. :) )

Ready for coloring!

Connor the "Goose Wisperer".

I just had to take a picture of this one.... Does anyone else find this as hilarious as I do?

(Rocky wanted to ride bikes and hold hands. He can be so sweet sometimes. )

Today we took some time to get ready for Easter tomorrow. The egg coloring was quite the event. The day got started a little slow when we realized we didn’t have any vinegar for the coloring die. (Thanks D for making a vinegar run!) After that was resolved, everything went exceptionally well! Siblings and nieces and nephews were in town, so we had lots of egg-celent support.

I think we got enough eggs to make for a fun time hunting tomorrow, and the boys had a great time coloring the eggs. They each had their own way of attacking the decorating. Rocky preferred the “Kur-plunk” drop-it-in method, while Connor took a very methodical approach – carefully making sure the egg had just the right amount of color in just the right places. Nothing’s more fun than to watch these two in creative mode. One of the best parts of being a parent.

After we got all the eggs boiled, colored, and dried. We took the bicycles out to drive around the green-belt. It was a beautiful day! Perfect for a relaxing ride in the park. This has got to be one of the most special, memorable, and down right best Easter weekends I’ve ever had. I am so grateful for the gospel and the atoning sacrifice of our savior. And especially for the opportunity for the three of us to be together as a family forever. Happy Easter!
